Hang onto it. Stay. Just stay.

So Good.--Ed.

THROUGH HIS DEATH PHILLIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN CARRYS THE MESSAGE THAT ADDICTION IS FATAL - PHILIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN HAD BEEN CLEAN AND SOBER FOR 23 YEARS UNTIL 2012 - Phillip Seymour Hoffman came into recovery for alcohol and narcotics when he was 21 years old. He attended meetings for many years.

Clean and sober – and in full possession of his faculties – his work was inspired.
The rest of his story – is common garden variety relapse. Stopped going to meetings. Disconnected himself from recovery.

In early 2012 he began to abuse prescription medications - once having relapsed – after 23 years clean - he dove back into snorting and shooting heroin.
The old recovery slogan is true: While we are sober our disease is in the parking lot doing push-ups - getting stronger -waiting for us to let down our guard - so that it can attempt to kill us once again.

We don't pick up where we left off - we pick up as if we had never stopped.

Phillip Hoffman quickly became unable to function - became reclusive - then recently went into detox – but did not return to his recovery program.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman died from a fatal progressive disease - not a moral failing.
My dear friends – we are given the GIFT of sobriety. Never forget what it is that gets us sober – A Power Greater than ourselves. The first time around – recovery is granted us through Grace and Mercy. When we let go of that gift – we have to work hard to get it back. Hang onto it. Stay. Just stay. ---Gary Kimble

Honey for my Soul

You have given up your old way of life with its old habits.
Christ Jesus took you from being dead to being alive.
Worship is present in all of our lives.
Paul says to offer your life as a spiritual sacrifice.
Scripture is full of worship.
When Mary is told she will carry the Christ child she breaks out in song.
Ephesians---sing songs of spiritual heart.
Revelation---John sees a vision of Jesus singing praises to the King of Kings.
We are not reminding God of His worth
but reminding ourselves.
We sing hymns because the early church was teaching theology to those who could not read.
So let's not sing 'Jesus is my boyfriend' songs...worships should lead us towards Christ.

2 Chronicles 20:20-23
A vast army is coming against the army of Judah.
How often when we know something is coming we run to our own solutions.
We shoud yet be: "We do not know...but our eyes are upon You.
Do not be afraid.
Do not be discouraged.
God fights our battles.

We do not fight against flesh or blood but against the enemy of darkness.
Worship is warfare.
Light dispels darkness.
Do not yell at the dark simply turn up the light.

Two-thirds of the Psalms are not praises. They are laments.
Job 1:20...when he was at the end of his trials, Job fell to the ground and worshipped.

You cannot work through everything.

But you can worship through everything.

We come before God in prayer not to be nice...but to be honest.

All I know is

God is a big God.

The breadth of our worship should be more than victory.

There is permission in worship to bring it all.

Worship is laments and brings comfort.

Tents of the wicked/Presence of our enemies are to us only

circumstances that overwhelm.

Psalms 18:3-6 sing to God and find myself safe and saved.

My cry brings the right into His presence and a private audience.

*I* thought it was funny

Doe broke a mug. One of my big coffee mugs.
It started falling out of the microwave so she caught it
and from her story
the burro has no connection to the story
it sounds like in catching it
she basically slammed it onto the counter.
The small cuts weren't noticeable until she started eating popcorn.
I don't know why but I thought this story was funny.

Give me the $&^% bar ya skell

There's people here that I have never seen anywhere else.
White people. White women particularly. White women who wear polarfleece jackets and sweats with clogs.
And short ponytails. And they usually have straight lank brownish hair with blonde streaks in it. And no makeup. Like, seriously, I think it might be the same woman each time. For the decades I have lived here. These might be the same soccer moms I see with wraparound mirrored Oakley frames and a Starbucks commuter cup with their almond milk/chai/dash of self-importance latte...
These women I do not care for. It's nothing personal-and if that stereotype fits you-I am not being racist. But it's true. The mass majority of women I have issue with are of this stereotype. I pretty much can't stand you. I pray for you. But I also pretty much think you are awful.
These are the kind of women who stand in line at 8pm in Target with their items nearly checked out and they won't put the bar down on the checkout stand to delineate their items from yours. They have a box of Wheat Thins, a package of cheese and some lunch meat left and they are fiercely looking at their smartphones. All the while the plastic bar, the one that delineates their items from mine, is within their grasp. So I wait. I stand on my tippytoes and search for the bar-aha! there it is! she can alllmoooosttt get it- all the while White Woman is ferociously checking her phone...Precious time ticking. And the items in my cart are waiting. And the woman behind me is waiting. Until the last gasp and I meep out in a mouse voice "Excuse me but....can you hand me the bar?" (I'D LIKE TO START UNLOADING MY CART NOW THANKYOUVERYMUCH says the Grizzly Bear inside)....and she frowns, sighs and hands you the bar as if this is the LARGEST inconvenience known to woman.
First world problems for sure, but something I have not seen any place else except here.
