Not our story. Not our ending.

Was reminded of Mom again yesterday.

When my brother was diagnosed with cancer, my parents were in a room with the doctor some chairs and a chalkboard. My parents watched as the doctor diagrammed the tumor in his brain and discussed and wrote out treatment options.
Surgery.
Chemo.
Radiation.

When the doctor was done the room stayed silent. My father sat in his chair. My mother got up, strode over to the chalkboard and furiously erased all of the doctor's diagrams. She threw down the eraser and sat back down. Meanwhile my father sat.

I picture her standing there tall and like a statue. She was a powerful woman of great strength.

Not my story.
Not my ending.
Write whatever you want.
Not my story. Not my ending.

We could be Heroes

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/16/carlos-arredondo-marathon-hero_n_3092134.html

The man is clamping on to the femoral artery of the injured runner with his right hand. The man in the wheelchair lost both of his legs in the explosion at the Boston Marathon.

I have seen one other person that shared the same skin tone as the man who is in the wheelchair. And he was dead, pulled out of the wreckage of 9/11.

The man in the wheelchair is dying. The man, Carlos Arredondo, who is a peace activist and was at the Race to protest the war in Afghanistan,  is saving his life.

John 15:13 says "What greater love than this---for a man to lay down his life for the life of another".

And while viral, this gentle quote from Mr. Rogers is worth repeating....

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’ To this day, especially in times of ‘disaster,’ I remember my mother’s words, and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers – so many caring people in this world.”

What cowards to attack on Patriot's Day.

"Vengeance is mine" sayeth the Lord

and I trust in that....

Measure once, puncture once

Not recommended: using a steak knife to scrape brownies out of the pan.

I am glad the bleeding stopped before I got to Urgent Care.

A butter knife works just as well, really, and won't puncture.
